Events this weekend!

Be sure to stop by Beep Beep Gallery for "Guest House" a show by Jason Murphy & J.R. Schulz this weekend!

Also going on this weekend is the Living Walls Conference, a conference on street art & urbanism.

A Grassroots Colloquium

Atlanta

"An exhibition and conference focused on street art and its role in engaging public space.

We are bringing in the works of an international selection of artists who typically make use of the streets to showcase their work. We have also sought artists that re-appropriate the public realm, attempting to take charge of their media space.

Artists will be asked, along with submitting artwork, to present some form of documentation of their other works as well as their process in order to illustrate via pictures, video, sketches, words, etc, the scale and context in which the artist typically works in public space."

and don't forget our Harlequin & the Hare show is up and you need to see it!

Summer Haze

Thanks everybody for coming to our opening last night -it was a great turn out! And double thanks to King of Pops and The Highland Ballroom Lounge for all the extra treats and entertainment.

I've had to think a lot about weddings lately because I have 3 coming up for some of my good friends. I don't think I can even count the amount of weddings I've been to in the last 10 so years and it's always interesting to see how folks plan them out, either fancy destination weddings or eloping with party in your home town later or just in your own backyard.

I am always inspired when looking at Design Sponge and their beautiful flower arrangements and locations when doing wedding design ideas and then Our Labor of Love photography everything looks so dreamy makes me think I'm going to a little wonderland for this couple before they start on their new beginnings in life together-

Whew!

Wow, longest work day in a while!

Totally time consuming for me, but great for you guys- I entered a TON of new tees, onesies, messenger bags from Happy Family this afternoon (not all of which I even got to put out!). My favorite of this 1146 item inventory would have to be precious astronaut onesies in lavender and royal blue. Come scoop them up before they're gone, or before I decide to buy all of them and save them for future baby gifts.

Jessica Gonacha (now Jessica Swift, fyi) also brought us some great ceramic coasters, pendants, and prints, and I got to meet her. I don't know, there's just something special about getting to meet an artist whose work you might see on your wall at home, around your neck, etc. So yeah, new stuff, come chh-heck it out!

I also had the privilege of meeting both artists for tomorrow night's opening, and I gotta say, they're both genuinely friendly and lovely ladies! Honestly, I'm not gonna smooze up any artist I've met, but I really did feel honored to meet both Ruth Marks and Sarah Watts this afternoon. Wanna know more about 'em? Follow my links, and, even better, stop by the show tomorrow! It really is lovely.

G'night all! See you tomorrow!

Weekend Time!

Even MORE stuff happening this weekend..Aside from our opening of course!

First off! Coloring in the Lines at MINT gallery! Local artists such as Sam Parker, RLand, and the Paper Twins have filled in pages from a coloring book to be auctioned off in support of buying art supplies for inner city elementary schools. Good cause!

Second! Opening at Kibbee Gallery! Go see Sean Abrahams and Erin McCammant's new work in the show titled "Glitter and Ghouls"! What?! That title rules.. and according to local badass Ann-Marie Manker, the show is already up and looks amazing! She said it's going to fly off the wall.. be sure to get there soon! And speaking of.. here's a nifty little walking map showing how close YBG is to them.

see ya around!

This Sat: Free Dali tickets * Free entrance to Ballroom * Gorgeous Art

We are hanging the work for this Saturday's show and it is pretty incredible!
Come support Ruth and Sarah, have a cheap Terrapin or glass of wine, plus it's a special night for two other reasons:

King of Pops is introducing a Young Blood pop AND The Highland Ballroom will debut the "Young Blood-Orange", an extra spirited cocktail made with blood orange vodka, and it's only $4.00. Ask for it by name!

As always, get your hand stamped at our opening and get free admission to The Ballroom.
This Saturday's line-up:

Author's Apology
Charges
Fourty Hells

And at midnight get down to DJs Dookie Platters and Gnosis!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, the first 6 people who come to the show and ask for tickets to the High Museum's Salvador Dali show opening, "Surreal Soiree", will get them for free!

You can see our very own Kelly Teasley's hand-painted dress modeled by our very own Jennifer Morris!

Madman or genius? Whatever you call him, Salvador Dalí was a master of the unexpected. From melting clocks to an éclair on Alice Cooper's head, Dalí rebelled against convention like no one else. A purple velvet suit? He wore it. A crazy, twisty mustache? He sported it. A little black book that read like a who's-who of 1970’s pop culture? He had one.

We invite you to walk a mile in Dalí's shoes and to dip a toe into the bubbling waters of his bizarre mind at our Dalí-inspired soiree.

Featuring…
-A phunky photo booth by www.LeahandMark.com.
-Flamenco guitarist, Witold Tulodziecki.
-A jewelry trunk show by Ashley Buchanan.
-DJ FVRS

A wearable art fashion show with contributions from the Atlanta artists listed below:

Grant Henry aka Sister Louisa
R.Land
Courtney McClellan
Andy Moon Wilson
Lucha Rodriguez
Tracy Wagner
Cooper Sanchez
Jessica Swift
Kelly Teasley
HC Warner
Kenn Twofour

Creative Direction provided by: Shannon Mulkey co-founder of the Indie Craft Experience.
