WEEKEND!

Hello all! Couple of fun things happening within the next couple days that are definitely worth checking out! First off, lets start with Friday!

Well, last Friday was the beginning of Free Art Friday. I'm super excited about this! What a fun way of raising awareness of local art, encouraging more people to get involved and make art, and exploring the local neighborhoods, hopefully by walking. Anyways, the gist of how it works is that you follow FAFATL on Twitter or Facebook and bright and early on Friday morning hints will be posted as to locations of where free art is hung! Finders keepers! You figure out where it is first and come armed to dismember it from it's hanging place.. and it's yours! Get ready to make and take! AND if you are interested in being a FAFATL artist, contact them via Facebook! Here's the first freebie from last week.. awesome right? Kenn TwoFour killed it!

Moving on to Saturday!

Be sure to hit up Harrison Keys' solo show, 'Pressure Luck', at Get This Gallery sponsored by PBR!

"The show will be comprised of mixed media drawings rendered in Keys’ signature illustrative style. This is Harrison’s second solo exhibition with the gallery and his first in the 11th St. / Midtown-West location.

Harrison Keys’ persona is imaginative, introspective, mysterious, and secretive. A deft draftsman in his own right, the drawings evoke the innocent coyness of classic children’s book illustrations. He is also a wordsmith, and the text that accompanies his drawings is injected with cryptic adult humor and wordplay. His drawings are nothing short of seductive, as the images have a pop surrealist sentiment that is largely playful, and at times cynical."

See you there!

Last post?

I think this is my last Young Blood post guys. I have been working as an intern since last May. I was super impressed with the first show I worked, Skate or Die IV. I remember I was blown away buy how many people were there, and how successful the show was.

As you might know, this May was our Steven Dixey, Stenvik Mostrom and Kenn TwoFour show. Back in May for Skate or Die it was the first time I was introduced to the work of afore mentioned artists.

Here were their submissions:

Gotta say it was this work definitely stayed in my head. You gotta admit this is some good art! You should come by and check out their show then!!!!!

I was really glad I worked this internship. The more I worked with Kelly and Maggie and Jen the more I got to understand their personalities and got to see the drive and passion they have for the gallery and boutique.

You guys have been a very positive influence in my life over the last year and I'm happy for it. Thanks for all the fun times!!

LOVE YA-
Annette :]

The art is hung and it kicks ASS!

Kenn, Steve, and Stenvik blew through the gallery like a contained tornado today, hung all their work and were outta here in a couple hours. These guys are seasoned pros and and it's time for all their hard work to pay off! Come out this Saturday and give them a hearty slap on the back for a job well done.

We'll get started at 7:00 and be here until at least 10:00. Buy them a drink (still rockin' the dollar beers after all these years) then consider buying a piece of incredible and affordable art work by some of Atlanta's most talented artists. Or sneak in on Thursday or Friday because I have a good feeling this work will sell fast - we just got a call from a customer in Connecticut! While you're out, walk down to Kibbee Gallery where they'll be showing the work of four artists in their show, "Sprout".

See you this Saturday! Maggles

Buy a Dennis McNett tee shirt and get one of his crow prints for free. And a lot of his shirts are half off!

Go to our Flickr page to see all the pieces in the show.
