Culture Shock!

I've been working on a project the last couple of weeks for one of the "Culture Shock" events at the High Museum of Art. My good Friend Shannon Mulkey of I.C.E and I love Patina has organized this awesome fashion show of artists to open the new DALI exhibit opening up in August at the High. She has made blank dresses made out of canvas and each artist gets to do our artsy thing on them! It's been really fun so far and can't wait to see what all everyone has come up with.

The Even is August 7th. We also have an opening at YB that night so come by early and then check out the show at the High at 10 pm!

The dresses will be auctioned off the night of the event to benefit future Culture shock programing.

So Real . . . Surreal Soiree

Shoutout!

Thanks Creative Loafing for the little shoutout and review of the Ponce Art Crew's (yours truly, Beep Beep, and Kibbee!) openings this past weekend! We're always a fan of sweet words.. hehe.. and it's so awesome that we can share the vicinity of our digs with other amazing spaces and people!

If you haven't read it yet.. Check it out here! Ming was such a multi-talented, awesome dude at the opening.. he is totally deserving of the praise he got!

But seriously, if you haven't seen Born/Michi's show at Beep Beep and Winsome Want at Kibbee.. Better hurry and get on it!!

AND on the topic of favorite spaces.. We hope to see everyone at Mint Gallery's Fundraiser. It's super important to support your local business and keep Atlanta's culture flowin..and Mint is non-profit, remember!

The Second Annual Emerging Creatives Conference
July 31, 2010 at TREES ATLANTA

Continuing the dialogue amongst emerging creative
organizations in the metro Atlanta area, GATHER ATLANTA is back for the Second Annual
Creatives Conference to be held Saturday July 31st, at Trees Atlanta from 6:30-10pm.
Presented by BURNAWAY, MINT, ThoughtMarker and WonderRoot, GATHER ATLANTA
2010 is a conference promoting and facilitating collaboration between Atlanta’s independent and
emerging galleries, creative collectives and non-profits.

Attendees will have the opportunity to network, learn about a cross section of visual and
performing arts groups, discover new cultural offerings and learn how they can support their local artists as well as metro Atlanta creative industries through volunteerism and active participation.

In addition to these opportunities, there will also be a panel discussion, curated by Jeremy
Abernathy of BURNAWAY focusing on the topic of “Art and the Public Sphere”.
"Enthusiasm for Gather Atlanta is a testament to the increasing energy amongst Atlanta's
emerging arts initiatives,” says Chris Appleton of WonderRoot, “ Among others, the groups
participating in Gather Atlanta are the next generation of arts leaders in Atlanta. WonderRoot is
excited to be part of this effort which provides a platform for these organizations to begin
conversations about how we can all work together for a stronger arts infrastructure."

Hey doodlebugs,

This one is gonna be a quickie, but I wanted to show you guys and dolls some new stuff we've gotten in the shop recently.

As we've expanded the jewelry section recently, we of course have new pieces in for your wearable pleasure. Betsy and Iya have some great chain earrings and necklaces that came in not too long ago.

If this necklace wasn't cool enough, inside is a metal letter that says "I love you".

Also, Ming (one of our artists in the show tomorrow night) has been working diligently all day on one hell of an exhibition, so be sure to come by and check it out. Opening is at 7 tomorrow night!

Puppies!!

Jen here! Thought I'd take a second to introduce the newest member of my little family! Tuesday night I got a new pup! One of Maggie and Kelly's good friend, Pepin, went out to do yard work and found two darlings that somebody had dumped in her bushes! I'd been wanting another dog for a good while now to keep my Dachshund mix, Hansel, company so I headed over to meet them! Well, after seeing this face, I completely could not help myself and had to take him home to be spoiled and be a little brother to Hansel.

So here he is! and his name is Harbor! 100% mutt, but also 100% cute as hell.

He already made an appearance at the shop and loved it! Promptly sprawled out and took a nap right in the middle of the floor!
